Engineer. Founder. Builder.
I spent 10 years in the tax industry before co-founding the first AI-powered tax preparation software for tax professionals. This is how it happened.
Olumuyiwa Aladebumoye is a distinguished first-generation Nigerian American entrepreneur and executive, widely recognized for his impactful contributions in engineering and technology. Raised in Auburn, Alabama, he began his academic career at Auburn University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2015. He later expanded his expertise by earning an MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2022, preparing him to excel in the complexities of business leadership.
Olumuyiwa initiated his professional journey at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in 2015, where over five years he led major enhancements to the plant's electrical infrastructure and utilities management. This role was pivotal in building his technical acumen and leadership skills, which he would soon leverage in his entrepreneurial ventures.
In 2018, Olumuyiwa founded LVL UP Logistics in Birmingham, Alabama. As the sole founder, he drove the company to achieve remarkable growth, specializing in a broad array of logistics services including last-mile delivery, moving services, and courier solutions. His strategic vision and operational excellence quickly escalated the company, surpassing $1M in revenue, and establishing LVL UP as a major player in the logistics industry.
Alongside his logistics enterprise, Olumuyiwa co-founded TaxxWiz in 2018, a tax service aimed at consumers that evolved significantly under his guidance. By 2023, TaxxWiz had transformed into SmartWiz, a sophisticated software platform designed to serve tax professionals. This strategic pivot marked a transition from direct consumer services to a B2B model, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence to streamline tax preparation and increase operational efficiency for tax professionals. Under his co-leadership, SmartWiz has demonstrated a consistent 100% year-over-year growth rate, rapidly gaining traction and recognition in the tech industry.
SmartWiz's innovative approach to tax software caught the attention of major industry players and earned substantial backing, including a $150,000 development fund from Google as part of their Google for Startups Founders Fund. This accolade was part of a series of recognitions including the Alabama Launchpad Competition win, the Pharrell Williams Black Ambition Prize, and participation in Techstars LA. These achievements underscored the company's disruptive potential in the tax industry and its commitment to serving minority and underserved business communities.
